The Primary Years Programme

In our Candidate International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP), lessons are designed by our expert teachers to inspire curiosity, encourage students to ask questions, and help them develop a strong sense of self.

The ten IB Learner Profile Attributes (LPAs) lie at the core of our curriculum, encouraging students to cultivate characteristics such as being caring, open-minded, and reflective. Our curriculum is also focused on developing the future-proof Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills—communication, research, teamwork, self-management, and critical thinking—through intentionally structured tasks, projects, and assessments.

The PYP offers a balanced combination of specialist and generalist classes. Specialist teachers lead subjects such as Thai, Thai Social Studies, Chinese, Physical Education, Visual Arts, and Music. Meanwhile, generalist teachers focus on Literacy, Mathematics, and Homeroom subjects. STEM/Science, Robotics, English, Social Studies, Health, and Library are integrated into a transdisciplinary Unit of Inquiry (UOI) taught by generalist teachers, with support from specialist teachers when needed.

At the end of Grade 5, students present the results of a self-directed research project on an area or issue of personal interest at the PYP Exhibition.

In addition to academics, students actively engage with the community and participate in special interest clubs.

DLTS International School is a Candidate School* for the PYP and MYP Programmes. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy—a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that DLTS International School believes is important for our students.

*Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme, or the Career-related Programme (CP).
