July 2024 Edition 1

Greeting from Dr.Matthew Fahey

Head of Denla International School

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I am delighted to report that we have had a wonderful start to the school year! Our students have returned with great enthusiasm and a positive attitude, ready to embark on new learning adventures. It’s been heartwarming to see their eagerness to participate in both academic and extracurricular activities.

Thank you to all our parents for helping us have enjoyable Sports Days. Both days were filled with energy and excitement as students showcased their talents and team spirit. It was wonderful to see such high levels of participation and sportsmanship from everyone involved. A big thank you to all the staff and volunteers who made this event a great success.

Our dedicated staff have been working tirelessly to create an engaging and supportive environment for all our students. We are committed to providing a comprehensive education that not only focuses on academic excellence but also on the overall development of each child.

As we move forward, we have a variety of exciting events and programs planned for the coming months. We encourage you to stay involved and connected with our school community. Your support and involvement are crucial to our collective success.

Thank you for your continued trust and partnership. Let’s make this year a memorable and successful one for all our students.

Dr. Matthew Fahey
Head of School

Important:

  • It is extremely important that your children arrive at school on time. Children who arrive late are losing valuable literacy instruction. This impacts their learning greatly. It also has a negative impact on their classmates who did arrive on time. When students enter classrooms late, it disrupts every student’s learning.
  • Many students in grade 6 have embrased our bring your own device initiative. We can see the benefits these students are gaining from bringing their own devices. Next year we will ask all middle school students (Grades 6 and 7) to bring their own devices.

Greeting from Ms.Jennifer Bradley

Head of Lower School

Dear Preschool Parents,

Our DLTS Preschool students have had many opportunities to learn and explore over the past few weeks. They are eagerly participating in phonics, mathematics and science activities that keep them highly engaged and actively learning new concepts.

The students and staff in EY2 and EY3 enjoyed wonderful learning excursions the past two weeks. EY2 students were excited to visit DuBua Cafe, where they applied their knowledge of farm animals, what they eat and what these animals provide for people. EY3 explored all of their senses on their trip to PaJeep Farm; it was a highly sensory experience with activities including a chance to hold chickens and ducks, walk in the mud and play in the foam pool!

Information has been distributed to all families about joining our new Toddle Family app. This will be the method of communication for DLTS preschool in the future. As soon as you join, you may access student portfolio entries, receive the daily learning updates & photos, and see announcements/updates from the school. You will soon be invited to message with your child’s teachers directly in the app. As of August 1st, we will no longer use classroom Line groups to communicate with families. Please be sure you have joined Toddle so that you do not miss any important information from the school.

We have some upcoming preschool events that you are invited to join. There is still time to sign up to speak with your child’s teachers at the Parent Teacher Conferences (PTC) on Friday, July 19th. You will be presented with progress reports highlighting the learning areas your child has focused on in the first two months of school in English, Thai and Chinese lessons. We also encourage families to plan to attend the International Fun Day event at Rama 5 campus on Monday, August 19th.

Greeting from Ms. Rebecca Suangoon

Head of Upper School

Dear Parents,

As we settle into our second unit of work for the academic year, we extend our thanks to everyone who attended the recent parent-teacher conferences. Your active participation and collaboration are crucial in supporting your child’s learning journey. If you couldn’t make it, please reach out to your child’s teachers via email to schedule an appointment.

We are excited to share that our Grade 3-6 students have elected new members to the Student Council. These students have a wonderful opportunity to develop their leadership skills through collaboration, contributing ideas to enhance student life and spearheading student-led projects.

Looking ahead to Monday, we are eagerly preparing for our House Event, where House Captains will be elected across all grade levels. This event promises to strengthen team spirit and foster a deep sense of belonging among our students. I look forward to seeing staff and students embrace the team spirit by proudly wearing their House colors.

We are immensely proud of all students for their efforts and achievements thus far this semester. As we approach a well-deserved week’s break, we encourage everyone to take this time to rest and recharge.

Head of Primary
