Making Grammar Fun! How DLTS International School Uses Colour and Movement in Grade 2 Language Learning

We are excited to share how Grade 2 students have been learning grammar in a super fun and engaging way through the Jolly Grammar program! This approach makes understanding parts of speech exciting and memorable, helping students build strong language skills that will support them throughout their education.

In Jolly Grammar, students use colour coding to identify different parts of speech. For example, they might use black for nouns, red for verbs, and blue for adjectives. This colourful system helps children see how words work together to build sentences. It makes grammar clear and easy to understand, turning what can sometimes feel tricky into a hands-on, visual learning adventure.

Along with colour coding, your child is also learning unique hand movements linked to each part of speech. These movements are like little signals that help students remember the role of each word in a sentence. By combining movement with colour and sound, Jolly Grammar taps into different learning styles, making grammar stick in a natural and fun way.

The results have been wonderful! Grade 2 teachers have already noticed a positive impact on your child’s reading, writing, and speaking skills. They are more confident when talking about sentences and can spot parts of speech quickly and accurately. Plus, the playful nature of the program keeps students excited to learn more every day.

Thank you for supporting your child’s learning journey. We look forward to seeing their continued growth and enthusiasm as they explore the building blocks of language with Jolly Grammar!
