We are thrilled to update you on the exciting learning experiences happening in Grade 5 as part of our Primary Years Programme (PYP).
The PYP, part of the globally respected International Baccalaureate (IB) framework, focuses on developing students who are confident, curious, and prepared to make a positive impact on the world. For Grade 5 students, this means learning through inquiry, asking big questions, and making real-world connections in every subject.
A core element of the PYP is our Units of Inquiry (UOI). In Grade 5, these units explore rich, interdisciplinary topics across Science, Social Studies, and Health. Students might investigate how energy is transferred, explore systems of government, or examine how lifestyle choices impact personal well-being. These units are hands-on, thought-provoking, and designed to develop both academic skills and personal growth.
We will also use Toddle, a powerful learning platform that connects teachers, students, and parents. One of its key features is the Toddle Portfolio, a digital space where students document and reflect on their learning. Your child will upload photos, videos, writing samples, and reflections to show their progress, creativity, and thinking. You will be able to view their portfolio throughout the year, helping you stay connected to their learning journey.
We are already seeing positive changes. Our Grade 5 students are becoming more independent, engaged, and confident. They are developing the skills and mindset needed for success in middle school and beyond.
