Dr.Matthew Fahey

June 2024 Edition 1

Greeting from Dr.Matthew Fahey

Head of Denla Trilingual School

Dear Parents, Students, and Community Members,

I am delighted to welcome you to the new year! Over these starting weeks our students have embarked on their academic journeys with enthusiasm and dedication, setting a positive tone for the year ahead.

We are proud to announce that we have officially obtained our secondary school license. We always expected to receive it but it is still special when you receive something like this after much hard work. This license authorizes us to teach all the way to Grade 12. At this time, we are still focused on teaching to Grade 9 only but it is nice to have the option open. This significant milestone allows us to expand our educational offerings and better serve our students’ academic needs on an international stage. It is another very exciting achievement in our short history.

Our next ambitious goal is to convert our current license into an international school license. Our preschool already has their international school licence, now we are focused on our primary and middle school year levels. Achieving this will not only enhance our educational standards but also broaden our students’ horizons. Despite this shift, we remain committed to maintaining a strong emphasis on Thai and Chinese languages, recognizing their importance in our multicultural curriculum. We will also maintain our current pricing policies to keep our school affordable for our current families.

This year, we will be reviewing our school uniforms to celebrate our move toward being a recognised international school. Where we are likely to change all uniforms we are considering the introduction of a different uniform for our middle school students. These new uniforms should foster a sense of identity and pride within our growing student body. The differentiated middle school student uniforms will give younger students an aspiration to work hard and reach the level of our current middle school students. These are very exciting times for all our staff and students.

I am also pleased to report that the construction of our new international secondary school building is progressing ahead of schedule. This new facility will provide state-of-the-art resources and learning environments to further support our students’ educational experiences. I look forward to giving parent tours of this building in the coming months.

Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement in our school community. Together, we will continue to achieve great things.

Greeting from Ms.Jennifer Bradley

Head of Lower School

Dear Preschool Families,

A warm welcome to all for the 2024-2025 school year! It's great to be back and feel the excitement in the buildings as the children started their year at DLTS. We have amazing teachers and staff who have all worked patiently, collaboratively, and thoughtfully to make the transition into the new academic year as smooth as possible.

Our newsletter is one way for the school staff to communicate with families. Please be sure to read the newsletters, read the messages sent on Line Official and check classroom Line groups to stay informed about activities and events at school.

Student Learning Showcase events are set to kick off on Friday, May 31st with our first class presenting some of their learning from the early weeks of school. An invitation and registration form will be sent in advance of your child’s showcase event.

A reminder to sign up for our Lower School Sports Day which is set to take place at DBS on Saturday, June 15th. Please sign up before May 31st to allow us to plan the event accordingly. More details may be found on DLTS Preschool Line Official. The addition of House Color assignments for our preschool students will add new excitement to this event as students from across the year levels participate in games with their teams, together with their families. We look forward to a colorful day filled with sports and fun for everyone!

I look forward to working with all of the staff, students and families to provide an excellent academic experience with chances for family involvement. I am sure this will be a fantastic, safe and healthy school year!

Greeting from Ms. Rebecca Suangoon

Head of Upper School

Dear Parents,

We are thrilled to welcome our students back to school for another exciting year of learning and growth! As the new school year begins, our children are already learning routines and settling nicely into their new classrooms.

One of the most important routines we want to highlight is the importance of arriving at school on time. Our school day starts promptly with exercise, and then all classes  have a dedicated Literacy Time, a critical period where foundational skills in reading and writing are developed. Arriving on time ensures that your child doesn’t miss out on these valuable learning opportunities, setting the tone for a successful day of learning.

Additionally, we have some exciting events fast approaching in June. We will be celebrating Wai Kru, and the PE team are busy planning Sports Day, a fun-filled day of athletic activities and team spirit. These events are wonderful opportunities for our students to engage in cultural traditions and showcase their talents and sportsmanship.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We look forward to a fantastic year ahead!
